Bee Dress

Image
You can call me queen bee! I instantly fell for this embroidered a-line, Peter Pan collar dress from ModCloth. It’s a heavy and thick material, so it’s great for cold weather to wear with leggings. Not only does this dress have two small front pockets, it has  large side pockets! This may be my favorite dress I have ever purchased from ModCloth. Though a bit pricey whole sale, I was able to purchase this with a 25% off coupon.

Black Polka Dot Dress

Image
One can never have too many black dresses! I found this lovely dress online during Torrid’s clearance sale earlier this month 🖤 It’s starting to heat up already in California, so this dress was perfect for being out and about in the middle of the day. I particularly  love the sheer sleeves and high neckline.

Holiday in the PNW

Image
Visiting my soul sister and dear friend. We had an amazing day of exploring the city of Portland and catching up. Ended the night by going to see BenDeLaCreme and Jinkx Monsoon's Holiday show. It was fantastic! Outfit Details: Sweater: Hand-me-down from mom, most likely Macy’s  Dress: Forever 21 Leggings: Torrid Boots: Clarks

Ruffles Galore

I wore this chic little black dress to the theatre. I found this in-store and was instantly drawn to the black ruffles and flower details. Unfortunately LB now longer carries this dress in black, but they do have it available in lilac (and on clearance!) Dress: Lane Bryant Sandals: Avenue

Harlequin Halloween

Image
Top: Hanes Skirt: Pinup Girl Clothing (2x) Shoes: Famous Footwear Pumpkin pin: Etsy MadameWhiskers After years of eyeballing their website, I finally purchased my first clothing apparel from Pinup Girl Clothing. I found this adorable harlequin Halloween print mini-length skirt on clearance, and couldn’t resist! It is made out of a heavy cotton, with a zipper in the back. Their skirts are notoriously know for being snug at the waist, but they start to loosen after a few hours. My short 5’4 frame was perfect for the mini length as it lays above my knees. Though for next time, I think I will purchase a regular length skirt so it lays below my knees. I was definitely happy with this purchase!

Fancy Workwear

Image
Nothing feels better than wearing clothes that make you feel on top of the world and ready to start the day! A good blazer always makes me feel more confident in the workplace. I love this elegant peplum from City Chic. I’ve had it for a few years, and can wear it for multiple occasions. For instance you can add a black pencil skirt, or wear a different color pant (I’ve worn grey before). I also wore spiderweb earrings to start celebrating Halloween (it’s never too early)! Outfit Details: Blazer/pants: Torrid Blouse: City Chic Flats: Famous Footwear Earring: Pier 1

Summer Wedding

Image
I recently went to my lovely friend’s wedding. It was a beach formal setting, so I knew I wanted to wear something flowy and elegant. This dress from Torrid is absolute perfection. I love the white rose embroidery detail, and the light weight chiffon. Plus you can wear this for a formal or casual occasion!

Comic Con Dress Up: Twin Peaks

Image
I have never dressed up for any convention before, and having obtained tickets this year to Comic Con, I figured I would dress up! The Twin Peaks aesthetic is filled with warm colors and plaid, as it takes place in the great northwest of the U.S. There’s also a pinch of vintage, with the major influence of the mysterious film noir, with the detective in a dapper suit and the women in vintage inspired clothing. I decided to go as Audrey Horne. Here’s what I wore: Top: Hanes (Amazon) Skirt: Hell Bunny (Unique Vintage) Flats: Crocs (most comfortable shoes for a Con!!) Dale Cooper Pin: TheSilverSpider (Etsy)

Pretty Girls Make Graves

Image
After a morning of routine medical appointments, I decided to treat myself to retail therapy (plus I had a return purchase on the verge of expiration). I happened upon Lane Bryant, whom I usually solely purchase my bras from. But the DRESS SALE sign caught my attention, and I was in dire need of long maxi dresses for my summer wardrobe. I feel comfortable in my body to wear shorts/capris, it’s just so much more comfortable to wear dresses! The  dress I’m wearing is from Lane Bryant , which is going to be my go-to dress all summer long! The fabric is so soft- it feels like pajamas! My sparkly sandals are from the Avenue .

Grey Ruffles

Image
I found this lovely blouse from Torrid. What caught my eye was the attention to detail on the sleeves. It gives me hints of Victorian and Spanish style! I love that this blouse is versatile with pants and skirts. Outfit Details: Blouse/Pants: Torrid Boots: The Avenue

Venus Blue

Springtime is already here; sweater weather I miss you already! Living in California, and as someone who tends to run warm, I always try to dress in layers for spring. Today was a particularly breezy day, so I decided to pair this short dress with long leggings. I found this adorable short dress in the CLEARANCE section at Target! I know that browsing the clearance at any  store can take a lot of time, but you never know what treasures you will find! I also always recommend looking at size numbers outside your comfort zone, and look for pieces based on what you know fits you. For example, last year I snagged a size 14 dress at Torrid that was stretchy enough to fit me perfectly! Outfit Details: Dress: Target Leggings: Torrid Shoes/Bag: Ross

Rose Tints My World

Image
Never did I think that crushed velvet would be back in mainstream fashion! It’s nostalgic, reminding me of all the velvet fancy dresses that I wore once as a kid, and at the same time fulfilling my goth aesthetic. This beautiful red rose dress is from Torrid.

Amethyst Winter OOTD

Image
I wore this look to a local holiday festival. I knew I wanted to be festive, as well as be able to wear a look for 4+ hours and still be comfortable. The blouse is from Torrid's Super Soft Collection and it's amazingly comfortable! It feels like pajamas! The skirt is from JC Penney (as seen in my October Disneyland OOTD). The leggings are from Torrid, and the purse is the Betsey Johnson brand purchased from Ross.

Deandri Mini Dress

Image
I’ve had my eye on the Deandri brand and their adorable dresses for quite sometime. I purchased the mini dress (on sale for $32!!) and am definitely pleased with my purchase. It’s a soft jersey material that is stretchy, with a two button closure in the back for the collar. I am not used to wearing dresses or blouses that cover so much of my neck and chest, but this is perfect for the cold weather and will keep me cozy. I don’t know how their regular length clothes are, but I think the fabric could have been of better quality (thin jersey material). However you can’t beat the great price, and I will be able to wear this year long. I bought this dress in a 4xl for extra length and looser fit. It appears that this brand tends to run small. I think I could have gone with the 3xl, but overall I’m happy with how it looks and fits. I will definitely be looking into their other products in the future! Dress: Deandri Leggings: Ross Booties: Payless

Black with Florals

This is my comfortable and billowy look for October. I always love finding kimono shrugs and cardigans at Ross- they're very affordable and cute! Kimono shrug: Ross Dress: Target Sandals: Avenue

Mint and Black

I took a trip to Disneyland for the Halloween festivities at the park. This was my first time dressing up for Disneyland- I usually wore a t-shirt and sneakers whenever I visited. But for the first time visiting during Halloweentime, I wanted to dress up for the special occasion. My style and wardrobe has definitely blossomed and matured  over the past several years! My favorite part about the blouse is the detail in the collar- I adore the print, and that it isn't obvious that it's Hello Kitty. Overall, everything was super comfy (thanks spandex bike shorts- no chub rub!) and everything lasted me through the long day walking around the park. I was able to get through the day thanks to the comfy and durable Crocs. Their brand has definitely come a long way since it's one-style clogs! Blouse: Torrid (Hello Kitty collection) Skirt: JC Penny Shoes: Crocs Hat: Local market

Dance The Ghost With Me

Image
I wore this look on a date with my boo. I love this flowy dress from Torrid- it has become one of my favorite black dresses in my wardrobe. Its super comfy and stretchy, and great for the hot summer nights. I can't wait to wear it in the fall with some leggings and booties! The shoes are from the Avenue- I'm slowly but surely learning to walk in heels, and a chunky heel is a great place to start. I am definitely outside my comfort zone, but am getting the hang of it!

Tropical-Chic Wrap Dress

Image
Memory: I'm a seven year old chubby kid laying flat on my stomach looking at old photo albums. My mom is sitting cross-legged next to me. I'm looking at yellow tinted photos of a family BBQ by the poolside. There's a photo of my mom, a young thin girl, wearing a yellow two-piece bathing suit. I come across a photo of my Grandma and her sister, wearing bright printed dresses, ones that are mid-sleeve and floor length. "Mom why isn't Grandma wearing a bathing suit like everyone else?" "Krystal they're wearing muu-muu's- it's what women wear when they get too big and want to cover up". She laughs at my curiosity. "Moo? Like a cow?" My mom laughs, "Right, like a cow. You never want to get too big and have to wear one". Even as an adult that memory always stuck with me. Before my body/fat positive journey began, I never allowed dresses or bright prints into my wardrobe. In the summertime especially, I would always see ...

Summertime In Gingham

Image
I never would have thought Target would have something so cute, in my size! I was super hesitant about trying this on in the store-  the largest size I could find on the rack was a size XL.  I rarely fit an XL at my favorite plus size stores, let alone Target which I have notoriously had trouble finding flattering pieces in their plus size line Ava and Viv. I noticed how stretchy the waist band was- and just went for it. I'm happy that I did because it fits like a glove! My favorite part about this dress is the bow that ties at the back of the neck. I hope you all are having an amazing summer so far, and are enjoying my blog! :)

Colonel Mustard

Image
For the longest time I refused to have any bright colors in my wardrobe, let alone yellow! As a plus size teenager and young adult I always gravitated towards black, oversized clothes because 1. it was part of my dark aesthetic, and 2. I also truly believed that black was going to make appear slimmer, and therefore more "presentable" and "likable" to others. It's taken me years to realize that's complete BS! I no longer to hide behind dark baggy clothes. I now have a lot of fun trying on all kinds of clothes of various colors that make me feel great. I enjoy trying on new things, and you should too. Don't be afraid to try something on- no matter the size or number! You never know what gems you may find. My latest favorite color has been mustard yellow. This is from the other day when I wore a pink and white flower dress alongside a yellow shrug. I purchased it from Ross a few years ago and wear it all the time! Dress: Torrid Shrug: Ross Leggi...
